Finally started reading CSM last week, now I'm up to date. What a ride. Time to join the slow crawl of weekly/bi-weekly like everyone. Was fun while it lasted, and I did get a pretty great chunk of story to binge through (1 whole "part" and some more!). I guess I still get a welcoming gift if next chapter is tomorrow. Then I'm officially in the "can't wait for next week(s)" gang.
Been checking out every chapter disc from this sub to see reactions for the last maybe 40 chapters cause I got curious what ppl were saying. Now I'm here. Hi.

I am starting to understand what is Fujimoto planning. In the Public Safety Arc, the main focus was on the gradual death of characters, thus creating a highly oppressive atmosphere.
This time, the main focus shifts to unraveling the constraints, which starts with the favors of others.

She didn’t necessarily lie, just didn’t tell the whole truth. Denji quit being CSM for Nayuta’s sake rn because Yoshita threatened them. But since Nayuta made him question if it’s truly what he wants, he’s having doubts

all this chapters have made me glad Fujimoto took such a long break to rest as well as plan out what he wanted for this part ,no chapter feels like its just winging it the way a lot of other authors plotlines feel ,even when stuff doesnt really happen you still have a feeling of progress either on characters or story wise .

people are trusting famine way too much , all her actions point at her actually wanting apocalypse to happen , just in his own accord so she doesnt lose the things she likes . as we can see in the last page , War devil is getting followers which mind you is a horse of the apocalypse as well , so wouldn't increasing her strength draw said apocalypse closer ? if I dont remember wrongly theres a pretty lengthy part in nostradamus prophecy that talks about a fake profet or something like that ,Asa could be being manipulated into that role as well

I was thinking perhaps it is meant to depict that Asa was also scolding herself for reciting the poem, as the face on the right could be seen as a mixture of Asa (no scar) and Yoru (eyes)

I keep wanting to say literally every new chapter, "this is the best one yet" but I really feel like this is THE chapter. Kinda like the shift after the assassin arc in the beginning of part 1, this feels like that.
I'm fucking stoked, I can't wait for what fujimoto does now. His comedy this chapter was amazing, we got a lot of clarification on the last few chapters, and now we're finally hitting a new shift in the direction of the story and characters.

yes, Fami is missleading but technically right. Yoru wants pochita, Asa wants Denji. So we still have 0 clue on fakesawman, unless fakesawman is a sort of avatar of Pochita doing its own thing.

Thing is you can't ahve one or the other, you gotta have em both.
also this is further showing that the relationship of yoru and asa is not a fiend type settup. yoru has no real control over Asa. She can't like, make her forget things, manipulate her perception or anything you could do if you were just puppeting a few neuron impulses. At the very beginning she claimed that she could just overwrite Asa if she refused to obey... and they almost got eaten, and she has not acted upon that threat. Cause it was a threat most empty.
So its the same situation and Fami knows this herself. You can't have yoru without asa unelss you kill them and have yoru reincarnate again. She using Yoru's tactic against them, misleading them. Yoru is unwilling to let Asa turn into a hybrid let alone let her know about the power.

Remember how Makima flung Chainsaw Man Into space and he recovered by ripping out a part of his heart and flinging it back to earth to grow a new body?
Nobody ever said the one in orbit died.
And while he seemed to have thrown his entire heart, Denji later says he threw part of his heart back to earth.
If one part of a heart can grow an entire human, it should be even easier for a partial heart to repair itself.

I had that idea as well, though I did not remember the part about it being a part of the heart.
The case gets enhanced even further by the final fight between Denji and Making. The Pochit-Chainsawman that got defeated by Makima was fully conscious and able to converse.
There is a strong case to be made for HandsomeChainsawman to be a spawn of the original.

I really enjoy that Asa is the one taking down devils in the final panel. Clearly she’s gained some confidence, and it alludes to either Yoru not being willing to take part in all of this or being confident in Asa’s abilities :)

the plot thickens.
asa looks so badass in that panel on top of the cockroach devil.
i love the direction the story is going in. another potential area for conflict has opened up. i wonder if denji is going to directly confront asa and try to convince her he's chainsawman, again. asa now has a purpose and i doubt she's going to be easily shut down at this point.
"they're obviously trying to save chainsawman". double meaning maybe. the church's followers have genuine motives but fami probably doesn't.
plot heavy chapters have been such a pleasure. keep it going fuji

Did Makima ever flat out lie? She'll give sheepish answers or hide information but I can't think of any time she completely lied--I truly believe that she thought she was for the greater good so that scene with Kishibe wasn't a lie.
I don't think I've seen Nayuta or Yoru tell a confirmed lie. I'm wondering if the horsemen might be prevented from lying. It was confirmed that the sisters are more or less face blind so it's not unheard of for them to have blanket traits/limitations.
Why do I bring this up? Fami just seems like a character that begs us to be suspicious of, but what if she's never told an explicit lie? Her line about wanting to repay Chainsaw Man because he saved her is very interesting. Perhaps she's thankful for Makima being out of the picture.
She never says "you can kill Chainsaw Black when you've finished helping me", she just informs Asa and Yoru that they're different entities in order to gain her favor.

The correlation seems a bit asinine to me, I don’t really see why Makima not lying and being evil means that Fami not lying and being evil means anything.
That being said, they both at least seem shady (there’s no fucking way Fami is a good guy although now I fear I may eat my words), and Fami hasn’t lied yet. I find it hard to believe that Makima never lied, but I can’t think of a single example, so you may be right? Even pretending she recognised Denji as a person was just omission of information, it wasn’t a flat out lie.
It’s an interesting parallel and I wouldn’t be surprised if you’re right about Fami never intending to let Yoru kill either version of Chainsaw Man, but I don’t really think the correlation was intentional from fuji

The main reason I bring up the "never lied" thing is mainly to give weight to the idea that she might be being completely genuine when it comes to "We want to help Chainsaw Man" thing since most people, and I, find that line to be completely bullshit on the face of it.
It's probably nothing and Fami is indeed the Part 2 main antagonist, but hey it's fun to think about this stuff. If Fami is morally opposed to or contractually bound from lying I think that could create some interesting scenarios and affect the way you read her scenes.

Kay so theory here for yas.
Said it before in other times. Pochita ate Death, and gained their power. He is using the power of death to prevent devils from returning t ohell or earth if he eats them, trapping them in limbo and effectively erasing the concepts they personify from the world..... which implies devils are far from mearly the 'fear' of a thing, but the thing itself made manifest.
Either way, what Fami is trying to do is to free death by weakening pochita so much that he is forced to expel death, unable to contain her.
Buuuuut it will turn out that Pochita devoured a death that was willing to be devoured cause pochita's personality had a quality that death needed. And by doing so they vastly altered the entire world in like, a cenutyr by devouring many devils and trapping them. so death isn't going to let itself get barfed up.
The horsemen don't realize this. or maybe more accurately, don't remember it properly. Powerful devils seem to retain some memories from a prior life, as the infinite devil remembered being killed by chainsawman in hell. So its possible that to leave hell they had to kill themselves or each other and now they are operating on incompeltel information. War doesn't want to release nuclear weapons, war wanted to release death. Makima lost the most memories of them all and her mindset got really warped. Fami however has retained more of her memories than any of them.

My one problem with this theory is that... So why do HUMANS still die?
They're not succumbing to the Star that drives people mad anymore, they're not meeting any of the other possible fates besides Death that happens at the end of a human life, or any of those other diseases or things that Makima credited CSM with eating the Devils of and thus suppressing in Part One.
So if Pochita ate Death, why are people still dying?

Well simple, the 'sealing' power isn't pochita's power but death's power that he's using.
Or even, the sealing is a result of combining both pochita's chainsaw powers with death's power to create and effect neither can achieve on their own. And likely should pochita die, it would kill death, and would undo this effect, returning all devils they sealed back to the world.... for worse.

Logically, it is impossible to separate Denji and Pochita. Denji relies on Pochita as his heart to stay alive.
Even if it were possible, the method proposed by Famine to achieve this, namely to make people forget about CSM and thus grant Denji a normal human life, should in no way break the pact between Denji and Pochita. On the contrary, it fulfills the condition of the pact.

Black Chainsaw Man - Might be the clone that got shot up in space in full devil form. (Fami even showed a picture of full devil CSM)
If this theory is true, then Chainsaw Man’s cloning ability is OP as hell but can be a problem since they have their own conciousness and if they are not good, then we have a problem.
Edit: Previously, I thought Red CSM was another clone (the one that fought Makima for my theory), I think she is referring to Denji, I thought he was kinda orange though.

I'd reckon there must be either a doppelgänger devil, clone devil or evil twin devil out there somewhere. I doubt any devil that has no concept of plurality could have straight up duplicates.
Gun devil is as far as we know the only devil whose body is in several pieces. While we don't know how GD's pieces work (do all pieces share one mind, is each piece a separate entity, how connected are they really, etc), there is still just one gun devil. Interestingly, Aki was fiendized(?) by consuming only a part of GD, so it should be possible for one devil to have multiple fiends + a devil body of it's own.

True. Though the gun devil is the most powerful devil we have seen in the series so far. It killed millions of people in mere minutes. Even the falling devil only killed thousands in comparison, even if its influence seemed to be world wide, and it took a few hours and only affected the most vulnerable individuals in the world.
Even a mere portion of its being caused massive damage. the only reason Makima overpowered it is because of sacraficing a few important pawns to summon the Punishment devil at full force and use the Angel devil's power at the same time.
And, presumably, Pochita was the one who defeated the gun devil to begin with, and the effort nearly killed Pochita and reduced him to the little doggo form. Mofo who tore out his own heart and tossed it back into orbit almost died to it.

If you look at US history which is about 250 years, there's only 15 years of peace. In recent decades, you could see how much gold and oil been stolen from Arab countries. Kindly also look at the trillions of debts accumulated every single day. US also has a military budget equivalent to the next 10 countries combined. It's easy to point fingers but the evidence is clear which country is the biggest war monger yet has the highest number of debt. China as the second biggest economy and considered a superpower has not fired a single bullet across their borders since 1979. Japan has not been in a war since WW2. Logically, the biggest culprit of war is none other than US and their allies.

Perhaps but again this isn't about that. Yoru was not talking about that. She was talking about humanity in general. I am also aware of the US's atrocities because I am Arab so you don't need to educate me on that. China commits genocide in it's own border, how peaceful. This entire discussion has been pointless because the original commenter brought their own politics to a chainsaw man subreddit when the author did not intend to make a statement on a certain nation in the first place.

The English version doesn't reflect it, but that Falling devil's mere appearance created gravity fluctuations on earth is phrased as hearsay(use of らしい) and is not a statement when Yoru says it. Coming from Yoru who possibly knows what the Falling Devil could do, a definitive statement that she in fact did cause catastrophic natural disasters on a global scale with her appearance would back up the Church of CSM's propaganda, so the distinction that it's just hearsay is important here. It also shows that Yoru is quite gullible because she believes there's huge damage being done all over the world as a result of Falling that would eventually lead to wars being fought over money. And then Famine confirms how naive Yoru is by pointing out she was going after the wrong CSM the entire time by dumbing it down for her as "red" and "black" CSM.
In other words for now the prophecy is as fake as the fakesaw the church put up if Famine is the one who is trying to trick people into thinking it's coming true. There's definitely something she's planning and that she has sweet-talked Asa and Yoru into helping with.
Asa and Yoru breaking the fourth wall was amusing.
I wonder what Denji's face means. It's all kinds of conflicted. And what is Yoshida going to do about Asa who has played right into Famine's hands...
It's impossible to turn Denji back into a normal human without killing him, he needs that heart. Of course Asa doesn't know that. And Denji's situation also reflects Asa's situation with Yoru, she doesn't know that Yoru leaving her for whatever reason would mean death for her as well. I think the talk about turning Denji back into a normal human is meant to key readers in to how Yoru and now Famine are just taking Asa for a ride that she will regret going on.

But sorry, I don't get it. When Denji turned Chainsawman after Power's death, was he the red one and exits another chainsaw man that is the black one? Or was he the black one, and when he turned back at Denji he turned into the red one? If this second is the case, so War is looking at Pochita, right?

Black is Pochita, Red is Denji (as a hybrid) and it seems Fami can't mention that Denji is a hybrid so she only mentioned that by turning Red into ordinary human, Yoru can get the Black

Yo this shit was fire, just like so much happening. From Asa/Yoru focus. And just getting to enjoy their dynamic, to some interesting developments to Asa’s newish crush on CSM. Her ability to conjure poetry really fast. Interesting conflict of interest between Asa/Yoru. But mostly like SOOOO much movment and development regarding Famj and the church this is like crazy. I love seeing them all talk and interact and like oh my god Asa the Devil Hunter, I mean wild shit.
I do have two concerns/wants. One, I guess I just hope Fujimoto gives some attention to youth culture in part 2. This whole advent of HS becoming makeshift devil hunters is really interesting and I wonder how it’s affecting or creating youth culture at large. I wonder how Asa or Denji will connect to it. Two, I hope this doesn’t just swap Denji and Asa’s roles. Like I hope Denji doesn’t get all “grrr I hate Asa” even though that seems to be the set up.
But just in general we’ve gotten a lot of really fire chapters recently. Fujimoto is in the damn kitchen.
