0% chance that person is rich.

u/Fearsomewarengine Jun 01 '23

Yeah. I know the type. Gets 10% return on his shit coin bet and think he's a genius and talks like this. No chance this guy has money

122

u/D-HB Jun 01 '23

He's flush with Trump Bucks!

29

u/zaogao_ Jun 01 '23

What's the exchange rate from Trump Bucks to Schrute Bucks?

15

u/psaepf2009 Jun 01 '23

About 40 Stanley nickles

81

u/atwitchyfairy Jun 01 '23

I got 250% return on crypto. Bought the moment before the first crash and forgot about it until before the second crash and got the money out. It was only $1,000 but hey money is money. Crypto sucks.

u/PopEducational8694 Jun 01 '23

You are now a cryptobro and have to give investment advice on TikTok.

Ehh, but those are truly random. You can feel like you're going somewhere with coins, the rush was more fun lol. I made 1k on doge a couple years ago, and I'm overall net positive with some still holding!

10

u/[deleted] Jun 01 '23

I got a massive pay out too. In like 2016, before it was even remotely popular to "invest" in it

Took my 3k and never touched crypto again lmao. And I had "invested" like 20-40 dollars that was just leftover

5

u/Andrelliina Jun 01 '23

I bought a couple of BTC years ago when they were worth low hundreds, because I had to use them for some small payments, and was sure at that point they were going up.

Sold them in little bits when I was broke, but definitely got a lot more back than I paid.

2

u/forte_bass Jun 01 '23

I knew about BTC back when it was 200-400 a coin but didn't have much money to blow, but even so i eventually put in 8k, cashed out some during the second peak for about $10-12k and what's left is still worth..... about $12k more. Not gonna lie, still hoping for one more wave lol. Could have sold for over $40k profit if I'd cashed out 100% 😖😖

Dude. I turned 75k into a million in a little over a year, half if it happened October 2021. My account grew to close to 400k over a year plus. I didn't have a plan for what to do when I had X. Like 3-4 weeks later I suddenly had a million dollars. I was thinking Id be rich in 5 years. Had no plan. I spent the weekend wondering what to do. Monday, Elon asked Twitter about taxes and my account dropped. I even asked a broker about cashing put my options, buying shares of QYLD- he said don't. He also didn't say take your profits, or ask any questions. I lost it all :( be careful my dude, never feel bad about taking some profits

6

u/mygflovesloads Jun 01 '23

But if you had a million dollars why did you think you'd be 'rich' in 5 more years? Isn't $1m 'rich' any more?

I ask as someone who lives on $600 a month. I could live like a king for the rest of my life on a million dollars.

2

u/ApenguinnamedRUA Jun 01 '23

Theres no way you live on 600/month.

A million dollars goes far. The more you have the further it goes. If I already had a house with mortgage I could pay it off and cancel my biggest payment. I don't. So Id need at least 80k for a down payment, then income enough to pay the mortgage etc

12

u/yeteee Jun 01 '23

Theres no way you live on 600/month

That's quite possible and actually not terrible in Thailand. And the person you're answering to posts on r/Thailand ...

3

u/ApenguinnamedRUA Jun 01 '23

Yeah in that case. I thought I was talking to some 20 year old living in moms basement in a G-7. Thailand makes a big difference. I have a friend who lives in Thailand rents a fully furnished 2 bedroom with utilities for less than $500. I Think he said low $400s.

He retired after 30 years teaching in Hawaii which while not the highest cost of living would make the list. He has pension and still works teaching English so hes doing very well for himself

2

u/mygflovesloads Jun 02 '23

Don't tell them what other subs I post on tho.

1

u/yeteee Jun 02 '23

Why ? That's public information....

0

u/mygflovesloads Jun 02 '23

I was being humorous. Try it. It's fun.

5

u/MessiahOfMetal Jun 01 '23

Theres no way you live on 600/month.

Shit, here's me struggling on £400/month.

0

u/yeteee Jun 01 '23

One could argue that you survive on £400 a month, not live on it, but that's semantics.

4

u/Fearsomewarengine Jun 01 '23

I'm in Denmark and used to live on 6-700$ a month

2

u/esituism Jun 01 '23

Brutal, but if you had 75k to gamble on crypto you're doing just fine in life.

That said, at the point where my account hit a million dollars on CRYPTO I would have cashed everything out and there is no financial advisor in the world who could have told me otherwise.

1

u/ApenguinnamedRUA Jun 01 '23

I didnt put money into Crypto.

Between suddenly having enough money do to pretty much anything I wanted within a middle class lifestyle and seeing my networth go from the highest it had ever been to double that in a month my brain shut off entirely. Selling everything that wasnt stock did cross my mind, but like I wasnt even sure I could dump $600k into a bank account.

Looking back its easy to see what I did wrong but in the moment I needed someone to say "Hey, your head isnt on straight. Take your profits, then well figure out what to do" I didnt happen

2

u/esituism Jun 01 '23

My mistake. What were you into that saw a run from 75K to a million over the course of a couple months and involved Elon musk that wasn't crypto? Tesla stock was way up but not that much.

And fair enough about hindsight being 20/20.

2

u/ApenguinnamedRUA Jun 01 '23

Mostly Tesla. I dumped my entire account into Tesla shares the day before the split was official and it split 5:1. I'm guessing it was actually more like 65k. I felt a little ridiculous buying shares at $1,400. I was hoping for a pop, because a popular stock when it gets "cheaper" usually goes up as retail buyers who couldn't buy or wouldn't buy at 1 share at 1400 might buy 3-4 shares at $275.

I bought 45 shares -about 63,000- using the standard split adjusted chart on your favorite finance page, that equates to about $100/share on a chart.

By mid November the small pop I had hoped for ended up at 80-100% gain. I could have held, but Id have had about 70k in losses to write off over time. Or I could sell, take profits then my gains would wipe out my losses and I wouldnt have to write off losses for years. So I sold, took profits and for tax purposes had gains roughly equal to losses.

Spent a few days thinking about what would be a good long term buys for the next 20 years until I was like 60. Decided that Tesla was involved in multiple things that I thought would be a big deals- EVs, batteries, solar etc. So I put it all back in. At some point I bought a few Tesla options for June 2021 roughly at the current price- then the announcement came out that they'd get added to the S&P 500. The options I bought went up 250% I sold them, took about 1/3 that cash and bought a used Toyota.

Around Christmas. I decided to use margin and bought 100 shares with the banks money about 60k split adjusted share price of about $220 and sold an option to someone for the right to buy them at $290. They paid me $500. I figured as long as we didnt crash Id do it until the option hit. make some money. Well $TSLA peaked at 293. They bought my shares. The bank got their $220 back and I kept the remaining $73. My numbers may be a little off but I paid the bank all their money back and made 12000 in 2 weeks. I ended 2021 with 240k in my account and a taxable income of over 100k for the first time in my life.

Then Tesla crashed again but I had my by May was down 50% again. I kept slowly buying. In September 2021 people are talking about Q3 being awesome in late October. So I bought a single option for each of the following October 7, Oct 14, Oct 21. and a handful of December options 260 and sold Dec 400s. The stock exploded in October. November 4-5 it peaked at $414, my December 260 calls were worth a fuck ton of money with the stock at just over $400.

My account went ballistic - from like 350k Sept 30 to 1.1M in November 5. It had been going up like 75k a day between Halloween and Nov 5. I had about 700 shares of Tesla worth a little over 300,000. and the rest in options That weekend I was thinking WTF do I do? If I cash out just my options, can I put 600k in cash in my bank account? should I put 300k in savings to buy a house in 2-3 years in cash. Do I put 100k in cash away for a down payment, invest the other 500k. If I buy 600k in QYLD Id be making 3000/month in dividend. So many questions.

November 8 - Elon asked Twitter about selling 20% of his stock to pay taxes. I figured Tesla would take a hit for a few days - then recover. No big deal. I asked the guy at Morgan Stanley about buying QYLD - he said dont. Didnt get any other advice. My head was spinning again. Not being certain, I held the options- they went to zero. I went from 1.1 to about 400k. I lost the rest from November 2021-September 2022. I've been treading water since Late 2022.

2

u/esituism Jun 02 '23

Thanks for the explanation. Absolutely crazy run that you somehow managed to time literally perfectly. Then it turned to sand. That's a rough one.

1

u/ApenguinnamedRUA Jun 02 '23

Yeah. My dad is a retired financial advisor. He's never given me much advice prefering not to advise family, its too personal. He says he told me to spread the money out to some boring ETFs etc but I honestly just dont remember that. Also, there's like 8000 ETFs and just as many stocks. What do I buy? There's just so many things.

I would have done so much better if someone had told me to cash out and just buy SPY.

Had I done so whatever I had put in would be down 25% at it's worst and currently down 10% - not counting dividends gained since November 2021. Id have 2100 Tesla shares at their worst $101 down about 75% so at their worst since November 2021 Id have about 650,000. I would be quite extatic to have 10% of that now.

7

u/TPJchief87 Jun 01 '23

I’m all for fake it till you make it, but not if it makes you an insufferable asshole

3

u/esituism Jun 01 '23

I'd like to take a minute to say fuck Richard Branson for that quote he has about "if you get an opportunity that you're not sure if you can do, take it anyway and figure it out along the way" for the same sentiment.

2

u/TPJchief87 Jun 01 '23

I’ve never seen that quote before but that’s essentially how I started my career fresh out of college lol. I was incredibly hard working and determined to be the best I could and ended up getting employee of the month the first month I was eligible. Got it again the following year and we’re an 1,000+ staffed company. I’ve been here 13 1/2 years with multiple promotions and spent the first 7 thinking they’d find out I was a fraud and fire me.

1

u/esituism Jun 01 '23

Sure, there certainly a middle line somewhere between taking an opportunity you're able to work into and what I'm talking about. I'm talking about the people that will sign multimillion dollar deals that require a ton of expertise without any idea how to actually accomplish the work.

1

u/TPJchief87 Jun 01 '23

1000% get that. We’ve had people sell us on lip service and not be able to back it up at all.

1

u/justinmcelhatt Jun 01 '23

Which unironically is lower than my 401k return since I started it 6 months ago.

38

u/SexyAsianHitler Jun 01 '23

They talk like someone with rich parents who thinks that money is theirs too. I know people like that and they’re insufferable.

7

u/DieRobbe_ Jun 01 '23

Then their parents donate everything to church and/or were in deep financial troubles.

17

u/UnnecessaryAppeal Jun 01 '23

Temporarily embarrassed millionaires

10

u/gimpwiz Jun 01 '23

Their solution to embarrassment is to pretend.

13

u/WanderlustFella Jun 01 '23

He's banking on being rich in the future. Dude probably owns 1000 doge coins

"Ya'll just wait until my god musk makes me rich"

11

u/[deleted] Jun 01 '23

it's just another one of Musk's sock puppet accounts

7

u/nomofica Jun 01 '23

Also 0% chance they're "independent" in any sense of the word.

3

u/[deleted] Jun 01 '23

50% chance it's one of Elon's alt accounts

5

u/DonQuixBalls Jun 01 '23

Or an adult.

Good thing the "murder" was the typical homophobic middle school nonsense, or it would have been inappropriate.

Imagine being the kind of weirdo that offers visuals of gay sex as an insult.

2

u/minahmyu Jun 01 '23

He thinks it's like sports. "Our team! We won!" And musk-y like, "noooooo fucker that's my money, but keep ridin this dick more!"

1

u/pictogasm Jun 01 '23

zero percent chance either of the two has an IQ over 100.

1

u/1v1meRNfool Jun 02 '23

they could be, being rich takes 0 brainpower

1

u/Poppa_Mo Jun 02 '23

I dunno.

I'd say 50% chance this is another Musk alt account.

14

u/sloopeyyy Jun 01 '23

Guarantee this fucker is about 26, makes about $50k a year, and hasn’t gotten laid since the Obama administration.

12

u/terminalzero Jun 01 '23

at least we're not dickriding musk

4

u/slonk_ma_dink Jun 01 '23

It's worse, I'm pretty sure he regularly gets ignored by elon even for his dickriding. Like no association with Elmo beyond the name. Just a truly pathetic little dude.

3

u/iSeven Jun 01 '23

I'm pretty sure he regularly gets ignored by elon even for his dickriding. Like no association with Elmo beyond the name.

That'd be the parasocial aspect mentioned.

7

u/evasive_dendrite Jun 01 '23

Don't act as if you need any form of skill or intelligence to be wealthy. For all we know this is yet another trust fund douchebag.

1

u/Chicken_dhick Jun 01 '23

Maybe English isn't their first language

1

u/WakeoftheStorm Jun 01 '23

What the hell do they think "cancel culture" is? You don't support people or companies you disagree with

1

u/Smooth-Question-3069 Jun 01 '23

I’ve never met a single one of these people who were genuinely wealthy.

Usually a 21 year old punk ass kid sitting in a dorm who has a net worth of 10000 dollars solely made off Crypto.

1

u/carrja99 Jun 01 '23

Don't knock the grammar... it was a reason I thought the Epic Games CEO on twitter was fake lol.

221

u/BringBackTheBeat716 Jun 01 '23

Yeah, nobody thinks of the right-wing extremists as "we wealthy people"

83

u/mbklein Jun 01 '23

They cosplay as rich when they’re trying to make it look like their decisions are better. But when they need to seem oppressed it’s all about the “wealthy liberal elites.”

26

u/one_eleven_ Jun 01 '23 edited Jun 01 '23

We should though. Right-wing extremism is totally dependent on billionaire donors. The GOP is the party of the super-rich. All the blue-collar "hard-working American" stuff is just marketing. Marketing that a lot of media-illiterate voters without college degrees fall for, but they're fodder for the GOP, not the thought leaders.

Oligarchy ("fiscal conservatism") always relies on populism (pandering to "the working man") because nobody in their right mind would vote not to tax the rich otherwise. All the paramilitary cowboy trailer park cosplay associated with Republicans is a front for a small group of exceptionally wealthy people that just don't want their taxes raised. Ironically, if there is a "deep state", it's the billionaires funding GOP super PACs.

4

u/[deleted] Jun 01 '23

THANK you everyone thinks of the right wing extremists as your uncle Ralph-Bob who is a complete bumpkin yokel, but really there are MANY extremely wealthy lawyers, politicians, police etc who actually fund this shit. We can't just laugh them off. Some among their ranks are extremely powerful.

5

u/jacobtfromtwilight Jun 01 '23 edited Jun 01 '23

Also since when are leftists "Monarchs"? The fuck lol. Dumbass probably meant Marxists

3

u/BringBackTheBeat716 Jun 01 '23

Yeah, that seemed like a weird word choice. Probably an autocorrect.

71

u/DuntadaMan Jun 01 '23

Dear leftists, you're just jealous we get our way with bomb threats and direct violence against workers.

14

u/freuden Jun 01 '23

But you asked nicely us to put on a mask and jailed us when we spit on people! It's your fault!1!!1!

Hopefully the /s is pretty obvious, but just in case

3

u/[deleted] Jun 01 '23

Welp looks like its time to start fighting fire with fire. Like the black metal bands of Scandinavia!

Turns out churches are very easy to burn down

48

100 grand? This guy is lucky if he has 10 grand across checking and savings.

8

u/cunt_isnt_sexist Jun 01 '23

Pfffft. This dude has a free checking account with no minimum amount required to be open. He got 1500 bucks back on a tax return because he claimed his 25 year old kid as a dependent and thought he was rich.

9

u/NotEnoughIT Jun 01 '23

Got a raise last week now makin 60k fuckin bank. Six bucks til payday with a new Camaro in the driveway and a 800$ a month payment. A whole house of rent a center furniture, 80” tv, and ps5 a year into a 900$ a month four year commitment. Only thing they own outright is the silverware in the drawer and half their wardrobe. Four credit cards all maxed out, one was just for rocket league crates but now it’s 8k in the hole not sure how that happened so fast. Taking a new girl out to Dave and Busters this weekend might swing by bdubs hoping to catch up with the boys and bring her back to the house to show how rich he is. That’ll get her pants off for sure. Life’s good being rich. Just gotta pay off that payday loan from last month that was 500 in his pocket for a night out payments only 350 a week, almost paid off.

2

u/jjester7777 Jun 01 '23

And how much of this could be solved by tighter regulations on things like interest and predatory lending practices...100% OF IT.

2

Why do I read this like a freestyle rap

Not only is he not wealthy, he most likely doesn't even know anyone who is truly wealthy...

Randoms who bang on about how incredibly rich they are online are always telling the truth, without fail...

5

u/Senior_Tone5363 Jun 01 '23

Remember the only reason target pulled some merch from some stores is because they were getting vandalized and employees were getting death threats. It had nothing to do with a boycott.

4

u/blatantcheating Jun 01 '23

Just another boilerplate example of “you criticizing me is tyranny, whereas me imposing my will on you is good, actually”

4

u/Qubeye Jun 01 '23

Mostly I think it's funny that he's talking about "Cancel Culture" and his own boycott of Target in the same tweet.

The right wing is legitimately very, very stupid.

4

u/ArcWolf713 Jun 01 '23

It's not money that made Target take down their Pride displays, it was terroristic threats against their stores and their employees.

3

"Persuasive with cash."

Just wait until people remember how goddamn compelling guillotines were.

2

This is just a person who has never read a book. If they had, they would be aware of the history of what has happened to people like them when they lord their “wealth” over the rest of us and use it to negatively impact our lives. The pendulum always swings back around.

2

since when do far left extremists think that elon musk is a right winger?

Oh, that's right, ever since he took away their toy "twitter" and disagreed with them on identity politics which are very divisive and racist.

"Oh you admire Musk? You won't agree he's a stupid piece of shit? Is that why you want to **** his *** ? Gargle his **** ? Put your **** all over his ***** and just rub it all over?"

Dare to like someone the left hates and they really come at you with the gross shit. Every time.

I wouldn't boast about this specific subject on social media. Who knows if that might come back to bite you in the ass in the future.

It’s actually pretty amazing how talented they are. I mean, I haven’t tried but I imagine it’s fairly difficult to type coherent sentences on Twitter while fully fellating Elon.

I mean, I'll be straight up with y'all, if you don't have money and you dick ride someone in the hopes they'll notice you and change your life, I kinda understand, but imagine having wealth and still having the need to base your opinions and actions on another person, that's just pathetic.

Mf got that ChatGPT personality 💀💀💀. Nah but fr, you are cool man, maybe I'm just not accustomed to finding nice people on this platform lmao.

This isnt murdered by words. The asshole said "im an independent" as in neither a democrat or a republican.

It has nothing to do with them being independent themselves.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 01 '23

That guy is obnoxious as fuck but no way is this a murder by words

1

u/TheAsianTroll Jun 01 '23

That Musks Apprentice guy should use his money to teach me a lesson. I feel like 30k isn't a lot for him, and that kind of money would change my life, plus I'd learn a lesson or something, idk

Since he clearly has so much cash that he can toss around, of course.

1

u/_switters_ Jun 01 '23

Wealthy people don't talk about their money. They don't have to.

1

u/Tasteful_Dick_Pics Jun 01 '23

Imagine being such a loser that your username is Musk's Apprentice lmao

1

u/AftyOfTheUK Jun 01 '23

I've met quite a lot of moderately wealthy ($10m+net worth) and a handful of incredibly wealthy people through my work - and not ONE of them would have worn Gucci or Balenciaga.

Most wealthy people - and just about ALL wealthy people who made their own money - are pretty damn frugal. That's how they got wealthy, for the most part. If you're wasteful (and those brands are a great barometer of if somebody can judge if something is wasteful) you're not getting rich.

Now, some of the people who INHERIT money will buy that shit all day long

1

u/RugerRedhawk Jun 01 '23

Why is the original comment indented and the reply not? Also why do Twitter posts sometimes show the reply above a tweet and sometimes below it? I know this is off topic but these things never seem intuitive to follow for people who don't regularly use the Twitter platform.

u/ApenguinnamedRUA Jun 01 '23

Im sure rich people do shop at Target. What I am also sure of is that rich people don't brag about shopping at Target

1

u/MadBunch Jun 01 '23

I genuinely don't know if he's saying he doesn't participate in a divisive partisanship culture, or if he doesnt play video games that are partisan.

1

u/Alert-Mud-672 Jun 01 '23

Guy stuck in middle management his whole life whines about it. What a sad douche.

1

u/brainEatenByAmoeba Jun 01 '23

That was my brother-in-law. Trump is God everything he says is wonderful the Democrats are demon kratz and the left is destroying the country. But I'm independent

1

u/Philyeagles710 Jun 01 '23

Conservatives always say they’re independent because they know people won’t like them if they say they’re a conservative. They are losers.

1

u/nsos28 Jun 01 '23

"I'm an independent" while larping as a right-wing "rich guy" despite losing all his money in musk-backed rug-pulled crypto and nfts

1

u/Whole_Suit_1591 Jun 01 '23

If a narcissist complains why does anyone listen? And why would we shut them up by paying them? Let them suffer as regular folk by not letting them cry aloud in public forums

1

u/ComatoseSquirrel Jun 01 '23

It amuses me that "cancelling" is far more prevalent among the Right, yet they still act like it's an exclusive Left thing. If it wasn't for double standards...

1

u/ABenevolentDespot Jun 01 '23

I suspect Musk has a large collection of clown shoes which he needs because of his relentless drive to keep publicly stepping on his micro penis.

1

u/danteelite Jun 01 '23

I mean, they’re not wrong.. “You are just angry that we wealthy people can be persuasive with our cash.” Like… yeah! That’s true. Obviously people are angry that rich people corrupt democracy by buying elections and votes. Obviously people are angry that rich people have the loudest voices even if they have nothing to say! Obviously people are angry that rich people buy their way around paying taxes and then complain about poor people who need taxpayer money to survive!

It’s always funny when people just admit to being shitty or get so close to understanding the truth and then just swerve hard back into bullshit.

1

u/piclemaniscool Jun 01 '23

Definitely trying to fake it 'til they make it.

Or as I like to call it, living the lie until you die.

1

u/connerofthenorth Jun 01 '23

FYI: wealthy people don't brag.

1

u/themarknessmonster Jun 01 '23

He doesn't care. He can very very persuasive with our cash.

1

u/tjmin Jun 02 '23

Well murdered.

1

u/kenkanobi Jun 02 '23

Cancel culture monarchs of the left? We ain't the ones cancelling lego because it's multicoloured.
