Gross. Did they attempt to mix antique gold and polished brass fixtures?

75

u/minniazinnia Jun 09 '23

Yes. Then they just gave up when it was time to get the shower curtain, trash can, and tissue holder

39

u/trevdak2 Massachusetts Jun 10 '23

My favorite is still the chandelier hanging five feet above the toilet. Like how does one not bonk their head on that when violating national security and pooping?

7

u/Grandpa_No Jun 10 '23

Now that you mention the toilet, it's clearly an elongated oval variety but.. it still seems like it's just floating in the middle of the room. How long of a toilet bowl does one need?

Money can't buy good taste. Which is odd since it seems like if you have money you should be able to hire people to advise you on what is tasteful or not. But I suppose that requires you to listen to the experts.

13

u/Ivorcomment Jun 10 '23

All Trump’s taste is in his mouth - and given his passion for ‘burgers and Coke even there it is tasteless.

2

u/Nuckcicle81 Jun 11 '23

Trump would never hire someone to do that. These are all his decisions.

19

u/drkgodess Jun 10 '23

Of all the things wrong with this situation, I love that you chose to focus on the tacky interior design.

27

u/vjaskew Jun 10 '23

According to the government, the material kept at Mar-a-Lago included ”information regarding defense and weapons capabilities of both the United States and foreign countries; United States nuclear programs; potential vulnerabilities of the United States and its allies to military attack; and plans for possible retaliation in response to a foreign attack.”

The unsecured locations that the government says Trump kept this material include the stage in a ballroom, “a bathroom and shower in The Mar-a-Lago Club’s Lake Room,” and a storage room that was “accessible from The Mar-a-Lago Club pool patio through a doorway that was often kept open.”

I wonder if Trump and others tried flushing some of those papers.

We already know that White House staff periodically found wads of paper clogging a toilet when Trump was in office.

Officials already warned that Mar-a-Lago was a magnet for spies and trespassers. It's very concerning that they could have asked for directions to a bathroom and find that trove of secrets.

218

u/PressureSwitch Alabama Jun 09 '23

“Six, Seven times I had to flush…”

145

u/Long_Before_Sunrise Jun 09 '23

"People are flushing toilets 10 times, 15 times."

Because paper that hasn't or isn't soaking up water floats at the top.

47

u/kia75 Jun 10 '23

But also plumbing isn't created for paper. Toilet Paper is a special paper that is designed to disintegrate in water, regular paper doesn't disintegrate and clogs up the pipes.

43

u/exophrine Texas Jun 10 '23

Are you saying that he was transmitting top secret government documents through a series of tubes?

6

u/Computer_Classics Jun 10 '23

Yes. We’ve finally figured it out, the entirety of the internet is contained and hosted in Mar A Lago’s plumbing system!

5

People had to tape his papers back together https://www.politico.com/story/2018/06/10/trump-papers-filing-system-635164

He also potentially ate them https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/trump-eat-documents-paper-omarosa-b2010616.html

I didn’t look at your links so not sure if it says this but I seem to remember that they made copies of everything so him flushing them down the toilet was useless anyway.

WHAT ABOUT SECRET SERVICE?!

Holy fuck like, they are everywhere around a fucking former president! How the fuck do they expect anyone to fucking believe they NEVER?! bumped into ANY OF THIS?!!

36

u/FierceBadRabbits Jun 10 '23

Would that be the same Secret Service that Pence was scared of on January 6? I think we can assume Trump was not the only traitorous fascist entrusted with national security in this situation.

11

u/HopingForSomeHope Jun 10 '23

Yeah… that gives me chills. Pence isn’t exactly a good person, but that situation was crazy.

4

u/PM_ME_UR_POKIES_GIRL Jun 10 '23

Pence isn't radical enough for modern republicans, in that he doesn't want to overthrow America and replace it with a Christo-Fascist Autocracy of some form.

He wants a Christ-Fascist limited democracy in line with what the constitution allows and what we used to have. That's too liberal for the average Republican voter these days.

u/twobitcopper Jun 10 '23

I think I’ve heard that is another story that may break down the road. It appears any connection to Teump inevitability requires the services of of an attorney. These agents could loose pensions and face legal costs. Another legacy of the MAGA.

6

u/nikolai_470000 Jun 10 '23

And rightly so if they were to lose their jobs, or even their freedoms. If there really are any people in the Secret Service with even an ounce of doubt in their integrity, they need to go. The Secret Service is not supposed to be political, and if extremists like that are within its ranks (and I’d bet some likely are) then the whole organization needs to be swept for security risks and bad apples.

There is already plenty of security for those agents (they literally won’t even let the guys work if they have any kind of major personal vulnerability that could be exploited, like a large amount of debt.) but, there were (and are) large swaths of other agencies who were saying some terrifying things behind closed doors at their offices. Those three letter agencies (plus the SS) tend to have a disproportionate amount of republicans, some of whom were openly admitting to things like buying into QAnon conspiracies, believing that Trump did win the election, and even that J6 was a false flag. We should count ourselves lucky that there happened NOT to be one of those folks on Pence’s detail that day in the Capitol. At the very least, it wouldn’t have been pretty to give such a bloodthirsty crowd exactly what they wanted. Sure, they all ran away when they snapped back to reality and realized that their lives could be in danger, but if they HAD gotten what they wanted, who know what they might have done next.

2

u/twobitcopper Jun 10 '23

The secret service is also law enforcement. If they were witness to laws being broken they were obligated to take action. Their duty is to protect the former president, but first and foremost they are “public servants”, not Trump’s personal body guards. That distinction seems to have been lost with Trump’s secret service detail, and a line appears to have been crossed.

I can remember a few months back a comment attributed to Biden, he didn’t trust the secret service. During a recent trip to Ireland a brief of Biden’s security detail was found laying in the open. It makes you wonder what else of the Trump corruption was left behind when he vacated the Whitehouse.

I suspect a host of secondary indictments from Jack Smiths’ investigations, the Secret Service being the top of the list.

2

u/nikolai_470000 Jun 24 '23

That’s also a pretty fair assessment. I wouldn’t catastrophize over it, but it’s reasonable to believe that there are active agents who hold some pretty extreme political positions and who might be compromised in some way by the corruption that was present in his administration. It is fairly well known that in the lead-up to J6, the offices of many of our three-letter agencies were full of personnel who openly shared and expressed belief in Q-Anon conspiracy theories, including false claims about the election being stolen. I’m sure there were a few people, at least, in most of our LEO’s, who were almost ready to commit treason because they were so far down the rabbit hole. The question that has been on the minds of the leaders of our military and other national security institutions is how many of these folks are in the system, and who they are. I feel it’s pretty likely there have been many BTS sweeps and probes into this that haven’t been (and won’t be) disclosed to the public. They like to keep that stuff as in-house as possible, even from other branches of the Fed.

The aspect that discusses the information on foreign company countries and allies is pretty disturbing.

It could lead to a situation whereby allies, etc are very hesitant to engage in information sharing like they usually do.

62

I went to a meeting in the Toronto Trump tower, just after it changed names because of course he fucked it up.

The entire building was faux luxury. Furnishings were basically brand new, but were already coming apart and looking junky. The boardroom table was a huge solid mahogany slab, but it was some kind of cheap coating over mdf, so it was peeling. The coffee cart was brass-coloured, and beautiful from a distance, but plastic and shitty when you got close to it.

I know almost everything he says is projection, but I thought his comment yesterday saying Biden kept his documents in his garage with the door open was too oddly specific to not be related to something in the indictment he read.

The corrupt Biden Administration has informed my attorneys that I have been Indicted, seemingly over the Boxes Hoax, even though Joe Biden has 1850 Boxes at the University of Delaware, additional Boxes in Chinatown, D.C., with even more Boxes at the University of Pennsylvania, and documents strewn all over his garage floor where he parks his Corvette, and which is “secured” by only a garage door that is paper thin, and open much of the time,”

27

u/TheNewTonyBennett Jun 09 '23

oh wow, he literally just slotted him out for Biden in that line of thought since he knew it was true for one of them and who better to point the blame straight at something oddly specific than the person who actually did the crime?

This is the literal clearest example I've seen considering that their projection is outrageously blatant. That they could top themselves, with their dear leader no less, is nothing short of astonishing.

Having read the entire indictment, my impression is that Donald Trump had some obsessive fixation with these documents. At one point, commenting on a document detailing a military plan, Trump says, “this totally wins my case, you know.”

I realize that decoding the mind of Donald Trump is probably impossible, but what does that even mean?

10

u/Sybil_et_al Jun 09 '23

I'm going to play the 'old card' to say that I don't remember details, but it had something to do with Miley (I think) denying that there was a plan to invade Iran after Trump said there was. Trump is allegedly waving copies of such a plan written by Miley. "Uh, huh, there is, it's right here. I totally win"

2

u/Ok-camel Jun 09 '23

I think the article I read said trump wanted to invade/attack Iran as soon as he was elected and was told no. Now finding these plans makes Trump think it was possible to attack as they had planned for it.

3

u/CliffMainsSon Jun 10 '23

Our nation's secrets were sitting in arms reach of a toilet in a bathroom of a fucking private resort.

Republicans can't say shit about Biden, Hillary, Obama, or any future Democrat after this dumpster fire of a human being turned our government into a complete joke.

u/Jasminewindsong2 Jun 09 '23 edited Jun 10 '23

I mean it’s not like our reputation was that great beforehand…but this is such an embarrassing look for us as a country. A former president kept top secret documents next to a toilet. Ugh

3

u/[deleted] Jun 10 '23

At the very least everyone in the world is aware that he is a total dirtbag… that we elected..

Okay, I see what you mean.

DEFCON 3½: Code Brown

4

u/Yourbubblestink Jun 09 '23

Cute headline, but technically Trump is being accused of being a traitor. Really takes the fun out of it.

7

u/the_buckman_bandit America Jun 09 '23

He is being indicted on espionage charges, and rightfully so, which you could extrapolate to a traitor, which he totally is 100%

7

u/deltadal I voted Jun 09 '23

Where are all the conservatives screaming for the death penalty for treason now?

3

u/Wraywong Jun 09 '23

Once you have wiped with Top Secret Classified Material, there is no going back...

3

u/silphd Jun 09 '23

OMG that picture!!!

3

u/Dreaminginslowmotion Jun 09 '23

Can you imagine if part of how they pin the documents on his viewing them is his legitimate fecal matter on the pages?

3

u/DevoidHT Ohio Jun 09 '23

He’d use the constitution as toilet paper if he could

4

u/MJKPens_N_Stuff Jun 09 '23

He did treat it like shit.

3

TIL former POTUS stores some of the most secret documents we have like I do GameInformer magazines

3

This reminds me of the time they found Sadam Hussein hiding in a hole in the ground.

3

u/Spare_Substance5003 Jun 10 '23

This should be an episode of Hoarders.

3

u/jodabo Jun 10 '23

This bathroom is so Trump…chandelier, gold fixtures, marble floors…and a plastic garbage can and cardboard tissue box. 5th Avenue meets dorm room-chic.

3

u/johnnyredleg Jun 10 '23

Why wasn’t this titled “Florida Man keeps Top Secret Documents next to his toilet”

3

u/WeeaboosDogma Jun 10 '23

How shitty of him.

3

u/Thesheriffisnearer Jun 10 '23

Take a photo, flush the page. Take a photo, flush the page...

Teacher: Alright that concluded chapter 17, dealing with Clinton, W. Bush, and Obam- Oh right. shit

Students: What?

Teach, lighting a joint in the window and taking a drag: Then we elected Trump. Alright chapters 18 and 19 are on the election...

Students: ... Two cha-

Teach: Yes, two goddamn chapters. Let's skip a few pages straight to "Grab them by the pussy".

2

"It's tremendous! What? Do you buy your own toilet papir?" Donald Trump /s

2

u/arthurdentxxxxii Jun 09 '23

Keeping documents near the toilet in a Trump house is dangerous. It could flood, like his pool that somehow flooded his server room.

And the conservatives are still twisting themselves in knots that it’s Hillary’s fault becuase they can’t take responsibility for anything. Also it’s really telling that the other primary candidates have been basically silent

2

u/Bitter_Director1231 Jun 09 '23

Where he is going, he will not need toilet paper.

Reminds me of breaking bad. The spy who used that bathroom had the time of his life when he discovered that thats apparently the place where top secret documents are stored

2

u/softConspiracy_ Jun 09 '23

Dudes like Walter White from Breaking Bad, except dumber and way less interesting.

2

u/Ok-camel Jun 09 '23

I wonder if they fingerprinted the documents after they were recovered, would it be possible to do that? If yes then I’m sure they would have found a treasure trove of people to ask why they had left fingerprints on the documents. Even just the minimum wage workers going about there business and having a peak in the boxes as they were passing, or ducking in the open door late at night to have a poke about.

God I'm glad everyone else gagged on the faux-luxury decor. That alone should add a couple of counts to the federal indictment.

What a fitting picture. Trump and his followers have spent years trying to put this country in the toilet.

2

PLEASE READ THIS ENTIRE INDICTMENT DOCUMENT.

After you do, come back and tell us why you still support Trump.

I bet the Russian spies wouldn't have thought to look around the bathroom. I mean, who the heck keeps classified material near a toilet? Is that the kind of reading material Trump uses on the can?

u/Spin_Quarkette New York Jun 10 '23

So this morning on Reddit the r/conservatives were arguing that Trump has SCIF at Mar-a-lago. Someone needs to explain to them the shitter isn’t a SCIF.

2

u/PerpetualFarter Jun 10 '23

Where else would a traitor who is full-of-shit be able to peruse top-secret documents without having to worry about loading his diaper?

2

u/coffee-cake512 Jun 10 '23

There's a chandelier in that bathroom. Way off topic, but wanted to share how tacky this traitor is.

2

u/Shaqtothefuture Jun 10 '23

His toilet isn’t even gold anymore; tough times for D Rump

2

u/Brightedit_ Jun 10 '23

The other crime: This bathroom is tacky as hell.
