The FBI really should be watching the proud boys in the coming days.

Idaho has been loosening their restrictions on militias lately.

[Feb 10, 2022] While the anti-militia law is currently not enforced in Idaho, removing it would limit the obstructions to private militias, which operate outside state authority and are unaccountable to the public, legal experts say. Similar anti-militia laws have been used to halt paramilitary activity through the courts in other states, the Idaho Statesman reports.

[March 8, 2023] Idaho Is On Track to Repeal Its Anti-Militia Law. The state has a troubled history with extremist paramilitary groups [Aryan Nations]* . During debate on the House floor, Boise Democratic Rep. John Gannon said now is not the time to repeal the anti-militia law, noting it was put into place a few years after then-Gov. Frank Steunenberg was assassinated by Harry Orchard in a culmination of violent mining labor confrontations between pro-union forces and those who opposed the mine workers’ federation.

“In fact it should stay on the books — it’s been there for over a century and there are reasons for this,” Gannon said.

“Once the private militia starts taking actions, overthrowing governments, taking over buildings, do other activities as a private militia, then the law steps in,” said Ruchti. “But by then, it’s too late.”

That's because it's Idaho. And as a fellow Washingtonian, I'm very nervous about the christo-fascist gun nuts there coming here after they've completely destroyed their own state.

146

u/FriesWithThat Washington Jun 10 '23

Tired of having to pay the price for Idaho's conservative culture wars. It was that way during Covid too, especially in Idaho's Panhandle. Idaho had to transfer patients 6300 times just between August and November of 2021, with 1 in 3 of those patients winding up in Eastern WA. (Not that Eastern WA is a progressive paradise, just that it's not by any means Idaho). It should be noted that their rural healthcare hasn't gotten any better since, with many doctors afraid or unwilling to practice in a State with their extreme abortion laws in place (even banning out of state travel for minors aided by an adult).

22

u/childrenofruin Jun 10 '23

I get texts every week about MD job offers in Idaho, they really need doctors.

27

u/myTchondria Jun 10 '23

Well that isn’t going to happen with their draconian laws. It will be the least safest place to be pregnant and have a baby. It has become an OB Gyn desert. So much for pro life rhetoric.😱

17

u/childrenofruin Jun 10 '23

Oh I'm aware, those people just dig their own graves constantly, it's really weird.

I'm extremely aware of the nazi problem in Idaho.

4

u/[deleted] Jun 11 '23

I'm not a doctor but it affects other jobs as well. If I want to live in Idaho, I've not had children but abortion services are necessary if something goes wrong during a normal pregnancy. I'm not risking my wife dying if we have a kid there's a miscarriage. (Miscarriages are legally treated abortions and have no limitations on treatment in nearly all first world countries and even most 3rd world countries too).

It also indicates that this religious extremism has a hold on the state. Which is another reason to avoid living there. More bills will be coming from the nut jobs

Seriously these militia groups should be outlawed & disbanded the minute they form. Why isn’t the FBI shutting them down? Pre-American Revolution the state initiated their formation only to fight British. These nuts need to be arrested and put in jail. Their “alt” version of US History is a total perversion.

I was RTVing in some mountain resort area in Arizona. Remarkable vistas, but somewhere on the mountain trail, I saw a pick up truck with it's truckbed filled with assault weapons. And of course, it was only covered by a comically undersized tarp.

I took a look at the driver seat, and it's exactly who you would expect to be driving a Ford F150 filled with assault weapons.

And lest I forget, there was more than one truck, just parked there on a dirt road, miles away from the city or a police station.

I hauled ass out of there as fast as a RTV could downhill a icy mountain road. No minority in that situation will ever end up in a warm fuzzy news piece if things started escalating.

Radicalization of loan wolfs is the tactic these days as it generates plausible deniability

Some of us remember when they were just a bunch of shitty people who shoved dildos up themselves to own the libs. They’ve never been hidden, but for a long time they were just a fucking joke. It’s not the Proud Boys I’m worried about… it’s all their affiliates and the unreported Neo Nazi hate groups we DON’T know about

There are around 450 known white supremacist groups in the US, with most of them concentrated in California, Florida, and Texas. I think if investigators and law enforcement focus on those three states first, it will lead to breaking up all the rest of the groups in the other states.

28

u/azcurlygurl Jun 10 '23

Unfortunately, Christopher Look-the-other-way Wray is still in charge of the FBI. I knew more about what was going to happen on J6, just by being on Twitter and looking at Parler, than the FBI did. Unless Garland has forced him to start tracking domestic terrorism suspects, we're still screwed.

Actually, my wife (and I) had been aware of the Proud Boys and Gavin McInness (so?) and their forebears for years. She’s been trying to get people to see how dangerous they are, but few wanted to understand or accept it. The MRA movement transitioned into the Proud Boys/boogaloo boys/neo-nazi fascist movement.

Incel grievance combined with macho toxic misogyny and stewed in Goebbels-esque propaganda/brainwashing. That is what these people are, and no amount of tolerance or sympathy will reach them. Until they face real legal consequences for their behavior, they will continue to believe they are the aggrieved and wish for or commit violence against their perceived enemies.

8

u/Anonamitymouses Jun 10 '23

Look at it this way.

If those nut jobs do anything they’ll be taken down by law enforcement and treated as the criminals and traitors they are.

Imagine how Jan 6 would universally be seen differently if those nut jobs had found Mike Pence.

I fear multiple instances of simultaneous mental snaps leading to a series of mass shootings and bombings peppered throughout the country.

Yesterday, in another thread, someone shared this, which shook me to my core. It's not as piddling or laughable as you might think:

Christian Dominionism has the express purpose of instituting Christian theocracy in the US built on a social framework of Old Testament laws including racial segregation and defensive sequestration where undesirables are kept apart from the rest of society (camps) to protect society.

The movement is behind guys like Ted Cruz, Josh Hawley, Ken Paxton and, to a lesser degree, Ron DeSantis and Greg Abbott (they don’t get full support since they’re papists, and Christian Dominionism is ultimately just for Protestants).

The movement is centralized and largely funded by the Green family, the people behind Hobby Lobby. They have a dark money organization called The Signatary that is also responsible for the He Gets Us ads.

The Christian Dominionists are Dispensationalist extremists who have a doctrine of Apocalyptic Accelerationism. They believe in the End Times, the Antichrist, Rapture (Christians fly up to heaven) and a period of hell on Earth heralding the return of Jesus and the end of the world, and eradication of all sinners and it’s all foretold in a prophecy.

Meaning they believe they can make the prophecy come true if they fulfill all its conditions. They genuinely want to end the world and they want to save as many souls as possible from eternal damnation. Works done in the name of salvation can cross almost any line except worship of “false idols” and that includes killing and use of force to persuade conversion. Like the Spanish Conquistadors, but with more neckbeard and AR-15s.

They’re on the move. Be careful and be aware. They’re very dangerous people.

In their version of the civil war, they don’t die. They mow down waves of blue haired lesbians who don’t know how to use a rifle, they endure a fun, safe level of hardship. Someone else maybe pays the ultimate price at an Alamo they aren’t at, then maybe the military realizes they’re right and comes sweeping in to put a nice bow on it all.

They never have to spend weeks on weeks digging trenches back and forth, only to get HIMAR’d or drone grenaded when they’re sleeping. They never have to hear about entire towns worth of people they grew up with getting wiped out in a failed offensive. They never get tried, walked to the gallows, and hung for being on the losing side.

It’s always a rocking good time, just as cool as it needed to be, full of adventure with a huge payout in glory.

The American civil war is worth mentioning for sure, but that had some key nuances of its day that aren’t going to be applicable now. A second American civil war will be an animal of a type we haven’t yet classified. The one thing that’s nearly certain is that basically every apparatus of state will not be on the side of the insurrectionists.

It will be a confusing and bloody guerrilla campaign, for sure, but it won’t be like the last one. Decisive field battles will be rare if nonexistent. It will be the messiest counter-insurgency in history. America has fought a number of insurgent wars in the recent past, and lost, because the stakes were low. The stakes are national survival, this isn’t an insurgency that 1 percent of America rotates through for 9 to 15 months and then calls it a day when it doesn’t work out.

4

u/Cepheus Jun 10 '23

Patriotism is recognizing that our country’s greatest asset is that we have a social contract that is based on rule of law and not fealty to a personality. George Washington was very clear about this, otherwise he would have been America’s king. Also, patriotism is about service to country in all its forms. Republicans are light years away from this concept right now. They want a king without rule of law. That is the most un-American idea ever. I’m not making a straw man here. The facts and statements are out there for all to see.

Here's a declassified FBI Intelligence Assessment covering the topic. It expressly notes the possibility of widespread and undetected infiltration and highlights the lack of information surrounding the issue.

It's... weirder than that. Their narrative requires the enemy to constantly be strong and threatening and also weak and unmanly at the same time (this is a common feature of fascism).

This constant doublethink causes these people to sort of lose their ability to properly gauge "the other" in terms of the real threat.

u/GFR34K34 Wisconsin Jun 10 '23 edited Jun 10 '23

Plus the whole 1.4 million active military and $900B in annual military defense spending. Not like the American military conveniently sits out of a civil war.

6

Except most everyone doesn’t realize external factors like foreign governments with a vengeance against America can and will likely support the next civil war to the same extent that the west has been supporting Ukraine. Look at it this way, prior to Russia invading Ukraine, the Ukrainian military was just sub-par. Now it’s likely in the top ten strongest militaries (so long it keeps being funded).

We need to stop thinking it’s a video game as the next potential civil war can and will be much more deadlier and harder to win.

  3. Rednecks rapidly deplete all edible matter and contaminate their own water supply with human waste.

  4. Rednecks get sick from preventable diseases, starvation, dehydration, and cold. Maybe a few die.

  5. Rednecks surrender to police, get slap on wrist.

Bill Clinton was investigated for land deals as a Governor. The investigation wasn’t able to find anything illegal done by Clinton. They changed Special Counsels and still failed to find anything. During this investigation he had an affair with a staff member and this is what they impeached him for. No one declared civil war. Donald Trump is a fraud and even when some of his people showed up to hang VP Mike Pence and others they failed. He had the power to grant them pardons and instead he asked his friends in Congress to call them ANTIFA. There is a trail of convicts that have been created by his lawlessness and on that trail is his former lawyer who went to prison for what Trump for the crimes he has now been charged with in Manhattan and his CFO of his business and the Business itself have been charged with fraud and convicted.

TLDR; He is likely a fraud and won’t support you if you fail and even if he somehow becomes President he won’t pardon you. He didn’t Pardon Jan 6, his CFO, or his attorney. Don’t find yourself on that trail, find a better candidate who isn’t sloppy and lawless.

23

u/Professional-Can1385 Jun 10 '23

Minor correction: Bill Clinton was impeached for lying about having an affair with an intern

13

u/Morepastor Jun 10 '23

Correct and Trump said he wrote his own answers the the Special Counsel and they told him the evidence proves that one statement wasn’t true. He crossed out the original answer and the GOP did not care. Martha Stewart got destroyed for lying to investigators as well. Trump got away with something like 10 obstruction of justice incidents in his first investigation. He is a fumbling idiot.

It'll end the same way it did in 1957 when Governor Orval Faubus deployed the Arkansas National Guard to block court-ordered desegregation of Little Rock High School.

President Eisenhower responded by invoking the Insurrection Act of 1807, sent in the 101st Airborne Division of the United States Army, and federalized the entire 10,000-member Arkansas National Guard, taking it out of Faubus's control.

edit: this was Eisenhower's way of reminding Faubus which side won the Civil War.

5

u/BadAsBroccoli Jun 10 '23

Talking heads who call for violence won't be doing the fighting or doing the time served in jail for violence. They just call for "someone else" to make more sacrifices for a man who couldn't give two shits about his followers already serving time for him. Nor do those talking heads.

6

5

u/Bikewer Jun 10 '23

From my long police experience, it’s apparent that there are always a percentage of disaffected types who will scream and cry and threaten when something upsets them…. But that’s all they’ve got. They’re essentially just venting.

At the same time…. Such rhetoric has the danger of affecting that tiny percentage of the population that will actually do something, like shoot up a school or a public gathering….

We can dismiss much of this rhetoric, but we have to be wary of that tiny few.

4

u/MikeinDundee Oregon Jun 10 '23

All it takes is one Tim McVay or Ted Kaszinski lone wolf to start the shit. Those types are nearly impossible to detect beforehand.
